Hello, I'm Annabel (Belle) and I run Belle's Lavender with my family at our home in Horncastle, Lincolnshire. Thank you for visiting our page.
In 2018, when our children were still babies, I was looking for something to do with our large garden. I researched various crops and flowers and then around the same time I saw some beautiful photos of the lavender fields of Provence. I decided that was it - we were going to grow lavender! Mr B. was happy as it meant less mowing (little did he know how much work was going to be involved). We grew a test patch that year, knowing nothing about lavender or its needs. Suffice to say most of it died over the winter. Undeterred, I spent some time researching everything I could find on lavender.
In 2019 we planted 800 plants on what was the old tennis court, much to the surprise of our neighbours who wondered what on earth we were doing stripping all the turf. We now have around 1200 plants of different varieties. We plan to add more plants year on year until the garden is full of lavender.
We purchased a small copper still for our first harvest and have distilled a quantity of our lavender into essential oil. We dry some of the lavender in bunches and I make wreaths and lavender bags each season. We will be adding more products to our range over time.
